Hardscaping

Hardscaping refers to the non-living elements of your outdoor space, such as patios, walkways, retaining walls, synthetic turf and other structures that add functionality and beauty to your landscape. At Native Groundworks, we specialize in designing and installing durable, stylish hardscapes that enhance your property’s value and usability. Whether you’re looking for a stunning paver pathway or a custom outdoor living area, our team combines creativity and craftsmanship to bring your vision to life.

Why Hardscape?

The possibilities are as endless as your imagination! Whether you're dreaming of an outdoor oasis complete with waterfalls, putting greens, and pizza ovens, or a cozy patio for hosting friends and family, the talented team at Native Groundworks can bring your vision to life!
A well designed hardscape will enhance your property's value and become a space of cherished memories for years to come!

How It Works

1. Excavation

The first step to a proper hardscape installation is the excavation.

We always shoot for a depth of about 9"-10". This is to ensure that no organic soil stays beneath your hardscape base. Organic soil will decompose and cause shifting in your hardscape features over the years.

2. Open-Graded Base

(Open-Graded Base- An aggregate base made of clear stone with no fines, allowing for permeability.)

The next step is the installation of open graded base material.

Depending on the application, we install 6"-12" of 3/4" fractured stone, compacting in 2" lifts using a plate tamper.

We then install a 1" bedding layer of 3/8" clear stone set on a 1% slope to properly direct the flow of stormwater.

3. Hardscape Installation

Once our base is set, we are ready for our hardscape installation. Whether we're laying pavers, turf, or vertical elements, we are meticulous with this step, ensuring that every piece is aesthetically pleasing and directs the flow of water properly

4. Finishing Touches

When all of the back breaking work is complete, we do the finishing touches.

This usually consists of soil backfill, infill sand, concrete edge restraint, grading, grass seed, etc.

When we wrap up our hardscaping jobs, we want all parts of the property to look better than it did when we showed up
